The Power of Reiki

My reiki journey began quite a number of years ago now as my interest in complementary therapies developed and the reason for this post is because even now, it continues to blow my mind and I would like to share why!!
After completing my reiki first degree, then after quite a lengthy period - as well plenty of self-treatment - I completed my second degree and March of last year I became a Reiki Master, since which time I have noticed how much more powerful the effects are for people, myself included.

Reiki has a big place in my heart from a personal level when last year my lovely, brave mum was fighting that awful disease, cancer. She wasn't big on getting treatments, but one Saturday afternoon when she seemed to be in a lot of discomfort and couldn't get comfortable, I offered to give a her back massage whilst she was in her chair - she would normally say no, but not today - so, I took the opportunity to use reiki at the same time. To see and hear her response is one that will stay in my memory forever. The relief she felt and what both my sister and I witnessed was incredible.
Sadly, even though she got a lot of relief at that time and her breathing regulated and she fell asleep, we had no idea that that would be our last day with her.. But, the point of my sharing this story, is to urge all of you who have family, friends, loved ones etc who are suffering with this disease, to recommend reiki to them. They won't regret it!

There are so many stories I could exchange, but you may all switch off and get bored! So, I will try and keep this bit brief (and somewhat cheerier!). Only this week, I have treated some new lovely ladies, they had 20 minute 'tasters' and having never had reiki before, I could tell they were somewhat apprehensive! But, within minutes they were relaxed and the feedback was amazing. One lady mentioned "when you were stroking my face.. then I could feel you on my arm" and when I replied "I never touched your face, or your arm" she was gobsmacked to say the least, but was blown away! The following evening, I happened to see her and asked how she had been after her treatment and she had a lovely, deep sleep and found it difficult to get up that morning, but felt really good and was looking to forward to booking another session. Another lady fell into a deep state of relaxation very quickly, which afterwards she was surprised at because she felt she wasn't sure she would 'believe' it would work..she rebooked there and then for a full treatment in a couple of weeks, which was very pleasing.

There are so many benefits to Reiki:
* Relaxation
* Relieves stress and tension
* Aids sleep
* Aids the body's ability to heal
* Helps spiritual growth and emotional clearing
* Strengthens the immune system and much, much more.

My Journey into Health and Wellbeing

Well, it's been a while since I wanted to finally starting blogging and FINALLY after setting up Blogger last year, I am now sat down, typing my first blog...yayyyy!!

Over time I have debated on all the things I hope to blog about, but now, here I am wondering what best to start with! So, I am thinking why not start with me..and my journey into health and wellbeing.

I have been a beauty therapist for 21 years now (wow..how did that happen?!) then along the way I became drawn to all things alternative/complementary, so began adding various therapies such as Indian head massage, hot stones, reiki and much more to my skills, as well as partaking in workshops for  crystals, E.F.T, dowsing etc. As time went by, I became more aware of 'being healthy from the inside out' and I was introduced to a lady many years ago during my time as a lecturer, through the National Wildflower Centre, who is a beekeeper and apitherapist, Yvonne Matthews, aka 'Vonnybee'. She was developing a range of products from the beehive for your health and wellbeing and coincidentally I then lost my voice, and as a lecturer that proved to be difficult!
Fast forward 6 months and a number of visits to a speech therapist to get my vocal chords to work again, then being hit with Chronic Fatigue Syndrome due to the virus which hit my body from the stress of my job..I began taking Bee Pollen and Propolis from the Vonnybee range as well as 2 bottles of the Bach Flower Remedy 'Oak' for fatigue/excessive tiredness etc. The specialists of CFS would not admit that the natural remedies were behind helping me back to good health, but I know they did, as I am sure they did really! I have to say it was a relief to finally get my voice back and feel 'normal' again. Still to this day, I take natural remedies and urge everyone to join me.

Read my story below, in this months Woman's Own Health and Beauty Special.
